November Already!!

Here it is November - soon another year will have passed.  As promised on my last blog, I am right on schedule to have our week's fun posted by Sunday (hope this isn't the only week)!

As we slowly meandered south from Toronto last Monday, we ended the week at Royal Front, Virginia, which is along the Shenandoah River.  This is a rather small town, about an hour from Washington, DC.  On our way here, we travelled many small but interesting highways and byways.  As we motored along, we found that the deer crossing sign is really there for a reason as a deer jumped out right in front of us.  Fortunately, we were travelling fairly slowly so we were able to let the deer cross unharmed.

White House

We went and stopped at the town of Punxsutawney, PA.  We saw the groundhog in his burrow but he was fast asleep.

Capitol Hill
Once we camped at Royal Front, we took a day to go into Washington, DC.  We drove half way and then we took the subway the rest of the way.  Unfortunately, we only had the one day so we saw what we could and the rest we have to save some for seed.  It would have been great to make another trip in but the weather turned cold (the high on Saturday was less than at home). The buildings are absolutely amazing.  Plus the security was incredible - using all modes - car, foot, bicycle, horse, and segway.

Skyline Drive
We are at the north end of the Appalachian Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We took a drive down part of Skyline Drive which is in the Shenandoah National Park.  We wanted to see the leaves which we did; although most of them were on the ground.

Tomorrow it will be time to head further south.  We have made some adjustments to our plans with this bout of cold weather.  While we knew it would not be real warm, we have decided that it is time for some warmth.

I hope you all have a great week!
